California

  • $10,000 if you sue as a private individual.

  • $5,000 if you sue as a business.

NY

  • $3,000 if you sue in a Town or Village Court.

  • $5,000 if you sue in a City Court.

  • $10,000 if you sue in the New York City Court.

Florida

$8,000

Texas

$20,000

Illinois

$10,000

Arizona

$3,500

North Carolina

$10,000 limit for all cases.
